It's not every day that you have the opportunity to visit the oldest city in all Europe, so i can not let this one miss! Plovdiv is a fantastic city with a very rich history and where you can see a lot of bulgarian culture. We were in a small group and our guide Daniel was also a very professional, intelligent and fun guide, making the whole tour an amazing experience. We also visited the Fortress of Asen, which provided a breathtaking view and ended the trip with a visit in one of the famous bulgarian orthodox catolic monasteries. I highly recommend this tour, the company Bultrips and also the fantastic guide Daniel.

The sites were pretty good. The guide was okay, but by the end of the day I was ready to split. Little annoyances, like the guide leaving the blinker on for more than half the 4+ hours driving around. Or the feeling like I was in a history lecture for the second time in a row. I'm good with history, but I am not down to memorizing dates or remembering names I can't pronounce. I'd skip some of the sketches, and graffiti-tagged sites in the future if I wanted to show off the gems of my country, would set a better mood, there are so many beautiful places in Bulgaria that you really don't need to settle on the ugly. Good time, but exhausting. Every time I thought there'd be a break from the history lesson we'd get another full dose of it. Plovdiv and Asen's Fortress are great, I'd probably want to just spend a full day in Plovdiv, it's a beautiful city. If you've been to a dozen or more Monasteries in Europe, you can probably skip Bachkovo. Its kinda cool, but I've been so many...

Absolutely brilliant tour! We were picked up from our location at the arranged time first heading to Plovdiv. Our tour guide was a fountain of knowledge and took us on a guided tour around the old town before our free time to wander and stop for lunch. We then drove to Asen's Fortress and then onto Bachkovo Monastery. Both absolutely amazing places to visit and a must see when visiting Sofia.
