From Ljubljana: Skočjan Caves Half-Day Trip

3. From Ljubljana: Skočjan Caves Half-Day Trip

The Škocjan Caves are a unique natural phenomenon, created by the Reka River. The Reka River springs below the Snežnik plateau and flows for 55 kilometers (34 miles) on the surface. After reaching the karst — that is, the limestone surface — the river not only deepens its riverbed through erosion but also corrosion; it dissolves the limestone and creates the caves. Explore the Škocjan Caves with a local, English-speaking guide on this half-day trip from Ljubljana. Get picked up at your hotel or guesthouse at 8:30 AM, then drive to the caves as your guide informs you about Slovenia. Upon arrival at around 9:30 AM, your guide will help you to buy the tickets to enter the cave. At 10 AM, begin your tour of the caves, spending around 1 hour and 45 minutes inside. Marvel at how big the caves are and learn all about the things you see. Make sure to dress warmly as the constant temperature in the caves is between 8–10ºC (46–50ºF). After your tour, you can eat something at the restaurant near the ticket counter if you wish. Finally, get back in your vehicle at 12 PM and return to Ljubljana. The tour concludes with drop-off at your original pickup point at approximately 1 PM.

From our point of view, value for money was absolutely reasonable. Whether or not you follow the (in our opinion well and entertainingly made) "sales offers" on board for further events in Venice is up to you and I think that there is definitely a clientele for whom these additional offers have their justification - also had here we didn't get the impression that the price/performance ratio wasn't right, even though we didn't use/book any additional offers... The specified journey times/durations can probably only be achieved under absolutely ideal conditions - we had excellent weather and a calm sea and yet both the Both the outward journey and the return journey took at least an hour longer... - nevertheless, we felt that the time in Venice was absolutely sufficient - you should perhaps plan a little more time. All in all a fair deal for the price

A very nice tour in the hinterland of the Slovenian Adriatic coast! Due to the corona, we were the only two participants on the tour, so the excursion had something almost familiar, especially since our guide Grega spoke almost perfect German and gave us a lot of information about the country and its people. During the wine and food tasting in a small winery, we experienced real Slovenian hospitality. An all-round successful tour that we would do again at any time.

Efficient and informative tour. Guides made it very clear what to do when, and what to expect so we felt comfortable. We opted for all the activities in Venice, boat transport to the square, pasta lunch, gondola ride, and water taxi tour. Well organized for large group. Easy to see the orange umbrella!

The Cave is so interesting, and the guides explain everything, bring comfy shoes... and Piran is a very nice city to walk around, our tour guide Nina was amazing!!

Really enjoyed every bit of it and the tour guides were cool to everyone and actually helped a lot, would’ve been lost without them
