The National Palace is the less visited of the 2 main attractions in Sintra, therefore much less crowded than the Pena Palace. We were able to enjoy the palace at a leisurely pace. The collection of art, tiles and ceramics was excellent and the reception room was spectacular. The other advantage is it's right in the center of town, so no long bus ride is necessary. Definitely worth the visit if you go to Sintra.

Super easy with the ticket on the phone. Absolutely start with Pena and the interior visit. Go outside then otherwise the line increases at high speed v. So do Pena (at the opening) descend on the castle of the Moors and aim for the National Palace around 2:30-3 p.m. We avoided all the lines in the middle of August.

Very nice, it is the first monument to visit when arriving from the station. There are some very impressive pieces. It's done pretty quickly, but it's worth it. On the other hand, we should have known better: there are a lot of things to see in Sintra and to choose from, we would not have made our itinerary in the same way if we had known beforehand. But we still had a great day (arrived a little before 10 a.m. and left at 4 p.m.)
