Sintra - Cascais: 6-Hour Electric Bike Tour from Lisbon

1. Sintra - Cascais: 6-Hour Electric Bike Tour from Lisbon

Embark on a 6-hour electric bike tour with 4 different modes of assistance, making climbing the Sintra mountain a lot easier, even for those used to a sedentary lifestyle. The tour begins with a briefing on how the bikes work. Then, head to Rossio station to catch the train for Sintra. During the train trip, you’ll have time to let your guide know if you’d like to visit some of the palaces along the way or if you just want to cycle. When you arrive in Sintra, you can visit the National Palace if you like. Most of your cycling tour takes place within the natural park of Sintra-Cascais. You’ll have the option of visiting Quinta da Regaleira, built between 1904 and 1910, a place renowned for its symbolism, magic, and mystery. Shortly after you’ll pass by Seteais, a former 18th-century palace that is now a 5-star hotel.   Continue your trip along roads flanked by majestic groves until you reach the entrance of Monserrate Park and Palace, one of the most beautiful creations in the Portuguese Romanticism style. Arrive at Colares, a place that’s well known for its vineyards. Continue on to Penedo village, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views from the atrium of the church, before cycling on to Urgueira village. Take a break for lunch in Azóia village, where you’ll find a great variety of restaurants. With renewed energy, continue your tour through an ancient forest and make your way up to the Peninha Sanctuary, located 488 meters above sea level. From here, you’ll have a panoramic view of the Espichel Cape and Arrábida, to the south, Carvoeiro Cape and Berlengas, to the north, and the entire Sintra mountain to the northeast. Returning to the center of Sintra, you’ll cycle downhill and have one last look at Pena Palace, an important monument of the Portuguese Romanticism movement. You’ll be traveling with an informative and helpful guide, as passionate about beloved Sintra as about cycling. Alternatively, go down to Guincho wild beach – with its never-ending dunes and typical winds that are so treasured by windsurfing lovers – until you reach the bicycle path to Cascais. Return to Lisbon through the beautiful town of Cascais by train where you will have one of the most amazing views over the Portuguese coast.

What people are saying about Sintra District

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our electric bike tour, it was such a great way to see some of the country and the scenery was stunning. The steep hills were no problem at all with the electric bikes (we are complete converts!) Our guide took us to a really cool restaurant in a village aimed at cyclists for lunch which we enjoyed and the other two people in our group were really nice and fun to spend the day with. Our guide was very flexible and gave us options of places and routes which was appreciated. It was a full day’s trip - we met up at 10am and didn’t get back to Lisbon till 6.30pm but I think that was because we’d chosen longer more scenic routes and stopped off to explore in various places. Cycling along the coastline to Cascais as the sun lowered in the sky was just stunning (we went in November). And we didn’t even ache the next day! Highly recommend!

Awesome! It wasn’t what I expected; it was more physically taxing than I had understood it to be however, with the e-bike & a private tour with just our family, it was the perfect day out. Ricardo, our guide, was fun, engaging and informative. We rode for 42kms over the day, up the mountain, down the mountain and took in the views and scenery of Sintra & Cascais and everything in between. Lunch at the cyclists canteen was filling and suitable for the day. We rode through little towns, forests and valleys, along the beach front and to our train back to Lisbon. This is an amazing opportunity to do something with your family that they will remember forever, even if it did push the comfort boundaries for mum!!! Highly recommend the tour.

Visita molto autentica attraverso piccoli villaggi. La nostra guided Georges è stato molto attento alle nostre richieste e al benessere del gruppo. Il giro è abbastanza sportivo, a minimo di conoscenza della bicicletta e delle regole stradali sono le benvenute.

This was the best thing I did in Lisbon! Would highly recommend, if you're on the fence go for it.

Daniel was a very helpful guide and showed us beautiful places. Definitely recommend this tour.
