Full description
Journey back to a fateful February morning in 1942 when surrender stared the British, Australian and Indian Army commanders in the face after 70 days of brutal fighting in Malaya and Singapore. Once known as an “impregnable fortress” of the British Empire, Singapore was about to fall. Enter the Battlebox command center and investigate the momentous decision to surrender the city to the Japanese, marking the beginning of the end of the British Empire and the start of Singapore's darkest chapter. Take an English-language guided tour of the museum to learn the causes behind “the worst disaster and largest capitulation in British history.”

This is a detailed overview of the fall of Singapore in WWII from the first aerial bombardment on the 8th December 1941 to the surrender on the 15th February 1942. Superior Japanese tactics as well as the early destruction of British naval and then air power is well described. Accurate reproductions of situation rooms, audiovisuals and description by an excellent guide made this a worthwhile tour.

Nice but shorter than it should

The place is very interesting and the guide was full of knowledge. But there was not enough time in the tour for the group to read everything that's fixed on the walls... And considering that there is no other way to enter the place but with this tour, the people may never be able to read everything... So we recommend them to provide more time, maybe 10 or 15 minutes more...It would make a huge difference...

Unbelievably interesting and informative.

This tour exceeded all expectations. Our guides knowledge and presentation of the historical account of the period that the "bunker box" was used during World War 2 was exceptional. A wonderful account of an extremely interesting and vital part of the history of Singapore. Anyone with a particular interest in the history of this period would be even more impressed with the "bunker box" tour.
