    Göreme National Park and the Rock Sites of Cappadocia were added to UNESCO’s World Heritage list in 1985. Discover these natural wonders on a 3-day professionally guided tour, choosing from Alanya, Side, and Belek departures. Cappadocia, located in eastern Anatolia, boasts a unique historical and cultural heritage. In addition, the landscape of the region’s Devrent, Paşabağ, and Pigeon valleys is characterized by unusual fairy chimney formations. Millions of years ago, 3 of Cappadocia’s mountains were active volcanoes. Volcanic eruptions and erosion of the tuff layers of volcanic ash created the formations you see in the area today. During this excursion you’ll come across a wide variety of fairy chimney shapes, ranging from conical, pointed, and columnar to hat and mushroom-shaped. Visit an underground city and the Göreme Open Air Museum, which features over 30 rock-carved churches and chapels, dating from the 9th to the 11th centuries, and many with interior frescoes. Your guide will take you to the Mevlâna Museum in Konya, the mausoleum of Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi. The site was also the lodge of the Mevlevi order of whirling dervishes. If you like you can choose to see a whirling dervishes show (not included in the tour price).

    It was pretty good overall. Guide was good, hotel was nice and we had a good time. Two issues though: 1. The bus had extremely narrow seats and was really uncomfortable for the long drives. 2. They charge you extra just to go see the balloons, 15 euros per person. The description says the balloon rides are optional for the added expense (about 150 euros) but if you want the privilege of occupying the same seat on the bus you have used the whole time to accompany those who are going to fly will cost extra. That seemed duplicitous to me and left a bad taste in my mouth.

    Die Fahrt von Antalya ist sehr lang und anstrengend. Man sammelt erstmal weitere Teilnehmer bis Side ein, um dann in einen großen Bus umzusteigen. Am Abend erreicht man dann das Hotel, welches für 2 Nächte mehr als ausreichend ist. Absolutes Highlight und trotz nicht günstiger Zusatzkosten, ein absolutes Muss ist der Ballonflug. Wird eines unserer schönsten Reisemomente bleiben und wir haben schon viel auf der Welt erlebt und gesehen. Ein extra Lob an Metin dem Reiseleiter! Er lebt seinen Job und begeistert einen die ganzen Tage mit Wissen, Engagement und Witz. Spricht fließend Englisch, Deutsch und Russisch. Fazit: sehr lange und anstrengende Fahrt, aber die Strapazen sind es werd. Wir können die Tour nur wärmsten weiter empfehlen.
