Full description

Journey to one of the most meaningful tourist destinations in the world at the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on the border of South and North Korea. Gain an understanding of Korean history and culture. First, visit Imjingak Park. See the Bridge of Freedom, used by prisoners of war who were repatriated from the North. Next, head to the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, an incomplete passage built by North Korea that runs under the Demilitarized Zone. Discovered in 1978, the tunnel passes through bedrock 240 feet (73 m) below ground. You can go inside the tunnel on foot.

Once you're back on the surface, your guide will take you up the slopes of Mount Dora for a look across the country from the Dorasan Observatory. In good weather, you can see all the way to North Korea without using the observatory's telescope. Look out at the 2.4-mile (4-km) stretch of the DMZ that has divided Korea since 1953 before you return to Seoul.

guide was excellent! funny and clear in her instructions. waiting time for bus to go into DMZ was 1.5 hours. tunnel experience very interesting but make sure you are fit enough to walk back. actual time at border taking a look into North Korea only 15 minutes. would have liked to stay longer but understand that time is limited to allow everyone the experience. can be limited by clouds but in our case excellent weather. at the DMZ village they sell high quality rice which can be delivered to Seoul for 5k KRW.

We wanted to see the DMZ and a good chunk of the surrounding attractions open to tourists (3rd Tunnel, Dora Observatory), which we were able to see on this tour. The get your guide booking system was easy to use and we got confirmation very soon after booking, with instructions relating to our pick up location and timing. Out guide, Jung was enthusiastic and informative and was exceptionally organised. Please be aware that you cannot be late for your pick up time because the tour guide has to get in a queue for very limited tickets, otherwise they may sell out. Whilst this may sound stressful, we felt confident that Jung would sort it all out for us, which she did. The tour included transportation to the DMZ and around the DMZ with stops at the 3rd Tunnel and the Dora observatory, with good amount of time spent at each.
