From Sciacca: Caltabellotta Private Tour with Food Tasting

3. From Sciacca: Caltabellotta Private Tour with Food Tasting

This excursion allows you to discover Caltabellotta, a small village in the mountains above Sciacca, extended over Kratas, on the southern part of the Sicani Mountains, one of the oldest cities in Sicily. Our agency offers you two different times with departure by bus at 9:00 or 14:30 from your hotel or near the Gulliver agency. The journey takes about 30 minutes along which you will have the opportunity to admire a typically Sicilian natural landscape where the mountains embrace the sea. Its position, 1000 meters above sea level, has made this small village in the mountains a rather remarkable strategic point, making it the protagonist. In fact it was disputed, dominated, looted and destroyed by the populations that dominated Sicily, despite this it managed to survive and sometimes to regenerate itself, even changing its position and the name itself. Historical center: Upon your arrival, the driver will leave you near the historic center and then continue on foot, up to the upper area called "Terra Vecchia", full of ruins, art and history. Here in the heart of the historic center stands the "Palazzo Signorile" by the artist Salvatore Rizzuti, which you will have the opportunity to visit. The Palace has always been known as the "Old Prison" due to its ultimate purpose during the Spanish domination, however today it is also the seat of the city's Town Hall and inside there is a large collection of wooden sculptures, clay and terracotta, bas-reliefs and drawings. Monte San Pellegrino: Subsequently, continuing the journey on foot, you will reach "Monte San Pellegrino" where you will discover the ancient mother church built by the Normans and dominated by a castle from where you can admire the remains of the walls that surround the city, the ancient tower, two caves of prehistoric origin and the four necropolises that surround the city. Tasting: After this historical tour, you will finally have a small tasting of typical local products including bread, cheese and above all the Caltabellotta oil known for its derivation from a native olive, "La Buscionetta", cultivated mainly according to the organic.

From Sciacca: Agrigento Province Highlights Tour

5. From Sciacca: Agrigento Province Highlights Tour

The excursion to Eraclea Minoa and the Scala dei Turchi is a short and interesting tour around the western coast of the province of Agrigento, to discover a historical and natural atmosphere made up of preserved beaches and archaeological remains. Our day begins by bus at 8:30 or 14:30 with departure from your hotel in Sciacca or from the Gulliver agency. Archaeological park The first stop is the archaeological park set in the promontory of "Capo Bianco" at the foot of the mouth of the Platani river. This double name of his can be traced back to the myth of an ancient Sicily, of the demigod Heracles and of King Minos. There are large defensive lines, with towers and gateways to the city, remains of inhabited neighborhoods and a theatre: the latter is protected by a cover to prevent erosion by atmospheric agents and is still used today as a venue for performances that have the cliffs of Capo Bianco and the splendid underlying beaches as a backdrop. The material discovered during the erosion is kept in the Antiquarium at the entrance to the site. The beach of Eraclea Minoa It stretches for about 6 kilometers in an amazing environment: the fine white sand is bathed by a sea of extreme beauty, clean, fresh and luxuriant with marine fauna. Behind it, a thick pine forest accompanies the coast for its entire surface. Scale of the Turks The second stop is the Scala dei Turchi, a magnificent dazzling white jewel that stands out among the clear blue of the sea. Describing the view is not transmissible in full: you have to live immersing yourself with all five senses in the magic of this incredible white marble cliff. It is a fascinating place where centuries of rain and wind have carved out a large natural staircase whose white color is made more dazzling by the sunlight. The Scala dei Turchi is not only nature, but it is a place recalled by local legend: it is said that the Saracen corsairs, for the Sicilians "the Turks", after having moored the ships in the calm, clear waters protected by the cliffs, climbed up these natural "stairs" reaching the top and thus invading the surrounding villages, including Realmonte.

8. Sciacca: Private Trip to Cefalù & Castelbuono with Transfers

Cefalù is located on the northern Sicilian coast about 70 km from Palermo, at the foot of a rocky promontory. It is one of the largest seaside resorts in the entire region and, despite its size, attracts a significant flow of local, national and foreign tourists every year. During the summer, the population triples, making the town's main squares and streets crowded. The town, part of the Madonie Park, is included in the club of the most beautiful villages in Italy, the association of small Italian centres that stand out for their great artistic, cultural and historical relevance, the harmony of the urban fabric, liveability and services to citizens. The city's cathedral, included in the site Palermo arabo-normanna and the cathedrals of Cefalù and Monreale, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015. Excursion to Cefalù and Castelbuono Departure from the hotel in Sciacca for the town of Cefalù. The Mandralisca Museum is worth a visit: among the museum's works is the famous Ritratto d'Ignoto, an oil painting from 1465, attributed to Antonello da Messina. Interesting to visit, although difficult to reach, is the Rocca di Cefalù, which offers a splendid panoramic view of the town as well as the remains of the fortification.
