From Athens: Hydra, Poros, and Aegina Day Cruise with Lunch

1. From Athens: Hydra, Poros, and Aegina Day Cruise with Lunch

Explore the Saronic Islands of Poros, Hydra, and Aegina on this day trip from Athens. Cruise over the azure waters of the Mediterranean sea and have free time on each island. Savor a mouth-watering buffet lunch and enjoy an app-based audio tour of the island of Hydra. After a morning transfer by bus from Athens to the port, hop on board a cruise ship and be invited to one of its spacious open decks. From the deck, you’ll have a great vantage point for enjoying views of the Greek coast. An app-based audio tour is also included in your trip. The first stop is the island of Poros, the smallest of the 3 islands you’ll visit on the tour. It’s separated from the Peloponnese by a narrow strait. Have ample time to explore the island and once you’re on board again you’ll be served a delicious lunch as the ship sail towards Hydra. Take in the stunning views as you enter the port of Hydra and see the cove that at one time served as a shelter for pirates. From the open decks, marvel at the dramatic landscapes of this island. As an added perk, download the mobile app (instructions found on your confirmation voucher), put on your headphones, and listen as licensed guides and experts on storytelling present you with original stories and historical information about the area. There will be time for you to explore the narrow, stone-paved streets of the island on foot, or by saddled donkey, which is the traditional mode of transportation. If you choose to go by foot, you can walk along the old seaside promenade and perhaps stop at some of the small shops. When you return to the ship, the captain heads for Aegina which is the largest of the 3 islands on the tour. Apart from its beautiful harbor, there are numerous interesting sites that you’ll have a chance to discover on your own. Alternatively, you can join an excursion to the Temple of Aphaia at an additional cost. Return to your cruise-boat and enjoy your one-hour sail back to the port. Disembark and finish your trip (if option selected) in Athens.

2. From Athens: Private Day Trip to Aegina Island

Once you arrive, you will immediately notice the neoclassical buildings in earthy colors, the traditional houses with small courtyards filled with trees and flowers, and the narrow streets where you can explore the traditional shops and taverns. Wander through the paved alleys between mansions, churches with blue domes, and popular art shops. You can choose to stroll among the local boats which have been transformed into floating grocery stores. Do not forget to buy some of the famous peanuts from Aegina's unique peanut variety. You can also make a worthwhile visit to one of the traditional ouzo taverns, where you can taste fresh seafood with ouzo or tsipouro. Admire the Temple of Aphasia and the beautiful coastline of Perdika before being driven back to Athens and pay a visit at the peanut factory.

What people are saying about Saronic Islands

This activity was worth it! I met so many awesome people. The views while on the water and on the different islands were like nothing I’ve ever seen. I had a full day of activities and I didn’t get burned out, I had so much fun. I went in November so, it was kinda cold but not so cold that it wasn’t enjoyable.

A must do in Greece! Very well organized. We were satisfied with the time on each island. The food was delicious and the show at the end of the night was so much fun. Staff was incredible. We also upgraded to VIP after boarding, which was worth every penny.

The islands are really beautiful. Additional shore excursion options are offered. I did the classic tour on Aegina. Highly recommended and a nice contrast to the other towns. Our boat wasn't fully booked so finding a nice spot was very easy

Very relaxing trip, while visiting some beautiful islands. Lunch was plentiful and quite good. Wish we’d had more time at each island, but gives you a short overview of each.

Perfect way to get a taste of different Islands with limited time. Free time in each place, delicious lunch and fun on the boat all added to a delightful experience.
