Full description
Starting with a Greek coffee in a quiet local village, you will be able to taste some rare wines of the island and get to know the traditional side of Santorini on this food tour. You will then be taken to the most untouched, authentic villages of Santorini to have a closer look at everyday life of the locals and even meet some of them. You will learn about the unique local products including the famous cherry tomatoes of Santorini, fava, and rare grapes, a source of our excellent wine. Get ready to taste all these and more in homemade recipes passed down from generation to generation. Your first stop on the food tour will be to Megalochori, a village of Santorini’s hinterland that still maintains most of its traditional character, especially when it comes to food. This is where the locals come on a winter Sunday family lunch, or a night out with good friends. From here you will advance towards Emporio, where you will find a medieval fortress called Kasteli. Your next stop will be the Lighthouse of Akrotiri, which provides views to the caldera, the volcanoes and the Aegean Sea. Afterwards, you will visit a local bio farm, where you can take a look at how the fiery cherry tomatoes or the unusual white eggplants grow, and learn all about their cultivation, their history and of course, their taste. Following the bio farm, you will visit a traditional winery where you will learn all about vinification and partake in a tasting. The final stop will be the highlight of the tour, a stop to an authentic local tavern. here you will have the opportunity to savor time-honored traditional dishes such as fava, tomato-balls and white eggplant fritters.
