Walvis Bay: Pelican Point & Sandwich Harbor Kayak & 4x4 Tour

2. Walvis Bay: Pelican Point & Sandwich Harbor Kayak & 4x4 Tour

The Kayak Combo is the combination of our Pelican Point Kayaking morning tour and an afternoon 4x4 ride in the breathtaking Sandwich Harbour Area of the Namib Naukluft Park. We spend the morning kayak next to our permanent seal colony at the tip of the Pelican Point Peninsula about 35 km outside of Walvis Bay. We regularly encounter Heaviside’s and Benguella Dolphins. Our kayaks are molded plastic sit-inside double kayaks. They are stable and suitable for inexperienced paddlers. Our guide will use a waterproof camera for some photos, which we will email to you withing a week after the tour (no extra cost). After refreshments, we head back to Walvis Bay to meet up with your Sandwich Harbour guide to see the Kuiseb River Delta, flamingoes, the saltpans and the wetlands just north of the Sandwich Harbour Lagoon. If weather and tides allow, you will drive right to the Sandwich Harbour Lagoon, one of Southern Africa’s richest and unique wetlands. Alternatively, you will get a chance to see the lagoon area from one of our many beautiful lookout spots. We return to Walvis Bay around 16h30.

The tour was more than worth it. We were a family of three alone with our guide, who spoke German, explained everything very well, we learned a lot of new things. We stopped at the flamingo lagoon, at the pink salt flats, saw springbok and a coyote that had just bagged a seal. Then to the fantastic landscape of Sandwich Harbour, across the dunes, unique views of the dune sea and the coast. At sunset we enjoyed sparkling wine, oysters and fine snacks. So far our best evening in Namibia!

We did really enjoy this tour. We got the chance to see jaw dropping landscapes in one of the most remote part of the globe. Our guide was such a great expert and drove into the dunes gently. We had fun and enjoyed also a good aperitivo with Prosecco and Namibian oysters which are a must and needs a try! I really encourage you guys to reserve 4/5 hours of your trip in Namibia and take part to this activity as you won’t regret it.

a great time; crazy landscapes, Marius is a very good guide both for driving in the dunes and for the quality of his explanations. the icing on the cake: the sparkling wine picnic in the dunes with a vegetarian version.
