Full description
Departing from the nearby meeting point, visit the University of Costa Rica campus, home to some of the largest patches of forest in San Jose. Guided by young biologists, discover the nature hiding in the middle of Costa Rica's largest city. Experience wildlife you wouldn't have imagined existed minutes away from downtown.   On the first stop, you’ll look for resident and migratory birds, lots of incredible insects and amazing flowers. Then, see the largest indigenous stone sphere in San Jose, thought to derive from the extinct Diquis culture. Lastly, visit the main campus to seek out the friendly sloths climbing freely. The goal of this tour is to change the way tourism is done in Costa Rica, while supporting young scientists, researchers, and local entrepreneurs.

Our Guide Raquel was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She obviously has a great love for the natural environment around her. We were lucky to see 2 sloths - Lorenzo a male living alone in a smaller area and later his mother we named Catherine in a large fig tree. It was really fun and enjoyable - a good and educational way to spend our first afternoon in San Jose.

Meeting place and everything laid out clearly! Price very reasonable! Biologist guide had an obvious shirt and mini scope, made sure to airdrop or email pix and videos! Super knowledgeable and a sweet guy! He made sure to help us get Ubers if need be. He was awesome- go on this tour- 2 1/2 hours- absolutely a great investment and even better experience- we had an awesome time, saw 9 sloths and only a few mosquito bites- they tell you to bring spray/ cream, water to drink- everything you need! Do it!!!! Most recommended!!!

Our guide taught us many things about bees, sloths, ants and birds that are memorable because we could see the wildlife at the same time. He was patient and also made some memorable moments when he took our photos at the end and also took a video of a sloth with each person’s camera, if they wished.
