Nice experience.Very interesting visit to the mine with the help of the audioguides in Italian well done and not verbose. The cruise on the salt lake is just 100 meters and suitable clothing is recommended as in the mine it is very cold even if in the guided tour it is including the overalls. A pleasant visit to Berchtesgaden, a renowned ski resort in the Bavarian Alps.

It was a very informative tour in the mine explaining how the region grew so much wealth through salt for thousands of years. Honestly my favorite part of the tour was the drive through the Bavarian Alps with the guide explaining the history of the region, and actually we drove right by Hitler’s Eagles Nest! We stopped in a beautiful alpine town for afternoon tea and a snack, it looked like a fairy tale with some light snow coming down on all the historic houses! But please be aware this location is in Germany, not Austria. I was not aware of this, so my phone and credit card did not work since it is a different country than I set travel notices for.

The excursion in the salt mine was very nice and is definitely something for families. Unfortunately, the organization of the bus company was not so good, as the bus stop is displayed incorrectly (it is on the left at the next crossroads) and the excursion was packed with another excursion and therefore took longer without prior notice. We would not have needed the built-in lunch break, as we had planned something else afterwards and this was unfortunately delayed.
