Magical day! The caves are beautiful and glow warms are amazing. Hobbiton was magically cute. I haven’t watched the movie but I totally enjoyed every second. I need to warn you it is too crowded. You wouldn’t feel that much but at our first stop we have seen at 4 mini hobbiton houses although there were more of them at that area. I thought on the way back we will see that section but we haven’t. So if you see hobbiton houses and you want to get close to them and take photos do that! We are given time to see the gift shop in the beginning and at the end. Too much time is given for that, I would rather spend more time in Hobbiton around the houses... Complimentary drink was a nice touch at the end.

My family and I had an amazing time on the full day tour of waitomo and hobbiton A lot of credit definitely goes to our guide Andrew. He is very knowledgeable and generates a lot of curiosity and great conversations throughout the tour. It was definitely best value for money. I would highly recommend Andrew for the tours.

Both activities were fine, but I would say they were not spectacular in any way. The glow worms are very interesting to see, but the boat cruise through the cave takes less than 5 minutes, the rest of the time being just a regular visit of the cave from a geological point of view. The hobbit little houses from Hobbiton are nice as advertised, but I would have expected to be able to enter in one of them and see them furnished inside. We were able to enter in one of them, but only to make a photo with the door open, because there was nothing inside. I have to mention I haven't seen Lord of the Rings nor Hobbit, so for movie fans maybe would have been a more exciting experience. For me it was nice to see the houses and take lots of pictures, but they get repetitive after seeing a few of them. The driver that we had for the day was very nice and told us many stories about the region and about life in New Zealand.
