Full description
Rome wasn’t built in a day, but that doesn’t mean you can’t see it in one. This combo tour covers all the significant milestones in Rome’s history and culture, from the founding of the city to the work of its early modern architectural titans. The tour begins at the Colosseum, where your expert guide will walk you straight inside, past the line. As you wander the first and second levels of this 82,000-capacity ancient amphitheater, you’ll hear stories of gladiators and emperors, wild hunts and deadly duels. Next, see Rome’s oldest ruins at the birthplace of the city itself: the Palatine Hill. From here you’ll have an unmatched view of the next stop — the Roman Forum. All of Roman life mingled in this marketplace, and with Skip-the-Line Access here too, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy your guide’s tales of deals, parades and sacred ceremonies. With the ancient leg of the tour done, you’ll get to satisfy your appetite at your choice of local eatery, before beginning a journey into the Renaissance. You’ll meet your new guide, an English-speaking expert on Renaissance Rome, and set off to see the greatest monuments to the period: Bernini’s "Fountain of Four Rivers", the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, and finally the magnificent Pantheon, an engineering marvel even by today’s standards, and home to the tomb of the Renaissance master Raphael.

The tour was split into two halves. The Colosseum and forum in the morning, then meeting at the Spanish Steps for the city walk in the afternoon. Unfortunately, that was a holiday weekend, All Saints Day, and the city walk was very busy!! I would encourage people to avoid this holiday weekend, unless you like crowds! Otherwise, all was good.

The first part of the tour was really good, the tour guide Inga was really informative and had interesting anecdotes. I didn’t like the second tour as much as it was very busy and the headset wasn’t working so I couldn’t really hear my tour guide well. He was also very informative but I think it was my fault for booking on a busy Sunday afternoon that it was difficult to appreciate the architecture that was being explained

This was a 2-part walking tour consisting of a morning and afternoon sessions. Our morning/Colosseum part of the tour was guided by Giuseppe. He was very knowledgeable and informative. I loved his sense or humor too! We learned so much! I was hoping we would get him for the afternoon session as well but he was committed to another tour. Eddy met us at the foot of the Spanish Steps and he did not disappoint! He was very entertaining and passionate about Rome! Both guides were such a pleasure. The tour was perfect too as you get to see the best of Rome, all by walking!
