Full description

Discover the Roman catacombs along the Appian Way by e-bike. Take a short ride along a traffic-free route from the departure point near the Circus Maximus. First, stop at the St. Callisto catacombs for a guided tour of Rome's oldest site of Christian worship. Continue on to the Appian Way, located in the woods of a regional park. After cycling a short stretch of the original route, visit a natural spring.

Drink some mineral water from the source and buy your own drinks and snacks from the market. Cycle through the Cafarella Valley crossing green fields and little streams as you make your way back to the city walls.

See more of the Roman countryside from a viewpoint on top of an ancient Roman cistern. On the way back to the start, stop on top of the Aventine Hill to enjoy the sunset overlooking the city.

Nice guide. Gave us a lot of information, but gave us also time to enjoy the ride. Sunset was really nice with the wine and the snacks. One participant had a problem with the wheel, but the guide managed this immediately. Ride on the appian way was a little bit difficult because of the bumps.

Won't lie, it was A LOT of riding through all types of terrain and rough if you're not used to doing it. That being said, it was a great way to explore outside the city wall and our guide was great. Lots of history along the way and the catacombs/aqueducts were a sight to see. Would recommend.

We had a great guide in Glenn. He mastered the various difficulties that arose along the way in a calm manner and was always friendly and courteous. We chose the tour in English because we couldn't get a German-speaking tour anymore. The guided tour in the catacombs, part of the tour, was then in German. Registration was not necessary.
