    Experience some of the quirkier highlights of Rome on this tour to the Capuchin Crypt, the Catacombs of Rome, and the Roman Aqueducts. Enjoy air-conditioned transport included throughout the tour and the accompaniment of a guide to answer all your questions.

    First, discover the Capuchin Bone Crypt, decorated with the bones and remains of some 4,000 Capuchin friars. Although it might appear macabre, learn why the monks actually consider the display life-affirming. Explore at your own pace with an audio guide and then reunite with your guide. Next, it's off to the catacombs, containing miles of creepy tunnels and the world’s oldest collection of bones. Follow your guide through the historic tunnels and hear the story of early Christianity. Finish the day with a visit to the Roman Aqueducts and enjoy time to explore this monumental landmark from a beautiful vantage point.

    Started at the Capuchin Crypt - Museo where we looked through the museum and then went to the Capuchin Crypt aka 'Bone Chapel' - a unique burial site covered in the bones of 4,000 friars. This site has bones decorating the crypt, walls and ceiling. No photography allowed. Next was a small bus ride for the 6 passengers to Catacombs of Domitilla. Again no photography allowed. Here we were taken on a guided tour by the people at the Catacombs. There are miles of tunnels and they have only explored a small part of the site. There are very few bones left in these catacombs and the ones that are in the graves and not art like at the crypt. Next was a drive down part of the Appin Way (Via Appia Antica) and over to the Aqueducts where we were allowed to take photos. The Aqueducts are a very interesting site. Taken back to Rome on bus and drop at a location that was not where we had started from so we then had to work out how to get home including public transport system but walked.

    A very interesting and varied tour. Length was just right - we had an 11 year old and a 9 year old with us. Lovely to visit the aqueducts - a beautiful location and nice to be within nature and away from the city. The Catacombs were unique and definitely something to remember.

    Francesca was an amazing guide! It was clear that she was passionate about the history and was a fantastic speaker. You get an easy-to-use radio headset so you don’t miss any of the information! The catacombs felt a bit rushed and we had a different guide for those who was not as enthusiastic. Overall I would definitely recommend this tour if you are looking to easily hit the crypts, catacombs and aqueducts! We started the tour at 1:45 and due to unforeseen traffic we ended at around 6:00pm, I think it would have been closer to 4:45 had there not been road work. Plenty of rest room opportunities and places to refill a water bottle. There is a bit of walking and stairs- only a problem if there is a walking impairment. Not a lot of gift shop time so grab them quick if you want them!
