Built in 135 AD for the Roman Emperor Hadrian, the building has played an important part in Rome’s architectural history. Climb the spiral staircase to reach the Chamber of Ashes where a number of historical figures were incarcerated, before continuing up to visit the Papal Residence. From all other tickets I booked in Rome the tickets for Castillo del angelo needed physical tickets to collect from ticket point. That was under a statue from a lady that was waiting with armed jacket. If it was too crowed or I didn’t notice her I would be so stressed up. It s a tricky thing when e ticket is not the case. Moreover she did not have kids ticket for free to give we although I booked it so I had to go to the cashier again and take one. Fortunately not queue. In general it was very helpful to book tickets from one forum/application and plan my trip in advance. I spoke with customer service a few time as well as to change time of visit and they were very helpful

Loads to see in (and from) the Castle and we really enjoyed our visit. Two of us had walking sticks and only the steps at the very top were a challenge, but we made it. I would have preferred to receive the tickets on my phone instead of having to exchange a voucher for tickets on site.

So fascinating especially the models of the castel over the years. Loved the large sculpture of Michael the Archangel and the twelve angel statues along the bridge leading to the fortress. There was a seagull that had his photograph taken numerous times by tourists as he posed with the arched bridges over the Tiber and Roma in the background. He was an asset to Castel San Angelo!
