Extremely interesting experience. Kinda pricey given the short length (we paid almost the same for a joint Colosseum/ Palatine Hill/ Roman Forum tour, and that one included 3 different locations and was a lot longer), but the tour guide did his absolute best to make it as great and engaging as possible. Also, don't bother with a private tour, the normal one we booked was just 11 people and basically private anyway.

The Capuchin Crypt was very interesting! The guide was very informative, very polite and willing to answer any questions. It is small, so time there was approximately an hour which was perfect to get on with other activities. I highly recommend seeing this most unusual place. It is a place of respect for the deceased and very eye opening to the dedication of the people whose remains are there.

There wasn’t much of a queue for this venue so pre-booking wasn’t particularly necessary, however a guide is essential in my view. It would be easy to wonder around this museum and look at the bones with macabre fascination. However our guide was excellent and not only set the scene historically but gave the context to this unusual museum. If you really want to get something from this visit, spiritual or something else, I would highly recommend a personal guide. Loved it. And once you’ve finished pop into Antico Ristoro Barberini for some focaccia fritte. Eat the most amazing bread as you contemplate the meaning of life.
