Full description
Enjoy a full-day sightseeing tour of Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast from Rome, driving the scenic hill and coastal roads through towns and villages, such as Positano, Ravello and Sorrento. The first stop will be Pompeii, where a local guide will take you around the excavations of the everyday Roman town that was buried in 79 AD when Vesuvius erupted. Inside the staggering ruins, you will see the Macellum and Thermal Baths. Discover where Romans would gather for dinner and wine, and see some of the homes of wealthy citizens. Depart Pompeii for the Amalfi Coast, stopping at the enchanting seaside resort of Positano for lunch. From here, you will get fantastic views of Sorrento on the Sorrentine Peninsula, and of the gleaming Tyrhhenian Sea. After some free time to explore on your own, continue to Amalfi to visit the Duomo of Saint Andrea. Drive up the winding hills to Ravello, where Wagner found inspiration for the set designs of his opera “Parsifal.” Drive north back to Rome, for a drop off at your hotel at approximately 20:30.

No time to see much of the Amalfi peninsula towns. Just a lot of time in a hot, crowded van. Not worth the amount of money paid.
