Our driver Giovanni and guide Francesco were very hospitable and gave us what was within their means to make the tour memorable. But please note that the catacombs are not open throughout the year and only a scheduled opening is made in winter. Through no fault of our guides, we were unable to see the catacombs but were given an alternate site and still provided for to the best of the guides' abilities.

Way too little return on investment. This was a very expensive hike.

Our guide walked us through the area and for the most part and only commented, a little, when we asked questions. In the car, he noted places of importance, but did not seem to have strong enough command of English language to properly guide or explain much to us. This was far too expensive for a guided hike versus tour. He was friendly and we assumed knowledgeable, but unable to articulate importance, beyond "this stuff is ancient," in English. Morning tour with different company was far better.
