COVID-19 Update

Due to health and safety regulations, this itinerary may change. See Know before you go for the latest updates.

Meet your private guide at the Colosseum. Here, your expert in Roman history will give you an introduction to the finest arena of the Roman Empire. You'll then explore the magnificent Colosseum, which had 80 entrances and could accommodate around 65,000 spectators. Hear about the spectacular festivals the Romans held here, which could last up to 100 days. After visiting the Colosseum, you will have some time to take some pictures, buy refreshments and wander around before starting the second part of your tour. Next, learn about the daily life of ancient Rome with a visit to its most bustling center of activity, the Roman Forum – see the temples, squares and legal buildings that would have defined this area. Finally, continue onwards to the Palatine Hill, the mythological birthplace of Rome’s founder, Romulus. Admire a spectacular view of the modern city, the ruins of Nero’s Golden House, and the Circus Maximus.

Excellent guide (very friendly and extremely competent)

We had the great pleasure of being accompanied through the highlights of ancient Rome by an extremely nice and competent guide (art historian - what more could you want!) Very knowledgeable and committed. Individual questions and needs were dealt with at all times. The tour (skipping the line) was worth every penny! Thank you again for this great afternoon!
