Full description
Travel back to the days of the Roman Empire on a 3-hour coach tour of the Catacombs of St. Sebastian and Appian Way, and see the Cecilia Metella Tomb and Aqueduct Park. Depart for the catacombs by air-conditioned coach, traveling in groups of no more than 16 people. Drive into the beautiful Latium countryside, stopping en route at the Basilica of St. Sebastian. According to legend, the basilica’s catacombs once held the bodies of the apostles of St. Peter and St. Paul during the persecutions. Your guide will give you an introduction to the church façade, before taking you inside to see the tomb and sculpture of Saint Sebastian. Then, descend to the catacombs, the 1st burial site of the Appian Way. See where the bodies were buried in the loculi and niches of 5 levels. Continue along the Via Appia, looking for the marks of chariot wheels from the Roman Republic. Arrive at the Tomb of Cecilia Metella, built in the 1st century BC to honor the daughter of the Roman Consul, Quintus Caecilius Metellus Creticus. Learn how it later became a castle for the Caetani family, a princely family with close ties to the papacy. Next, go to see the largest aqueducts of the Roman Empire at the magnificent Aqueduct Park. See an aqueduct that still supplies water to this day, and gaze at the aqueduct arches as they stretch over miles.

We were able to visit the ancient Roman aqueduct, San Sebastiano Catacombs, and the Appian Way, while transportation was limited on a private trip. I was able to feel free to talk with the guide in a small group. The Mercedes-Benz V-class that I got on the move was also comfortable.

We did this tour with Massimo and Serena. Very interesting in the proposed tour, the Catacombs are really beautiful. It was an exciting experience. The rest of the tour, having as its destination the Appian Way, the Aqueduct Park and the surrounding monuments was equally valid. Dear, competent the two companions, as well as very nice. Very professional and prepared the guide. Recommended.

we had a private tour because only my husband and I were tour participants. We were chauffeured by BMW instead of by bus. since the german leadership in the catacombs was delayed a little, there was even time for a coffee. everything was well organized. at our own request, we were dropped off near the trevi fountain at the end of the tour. THANK YOU
