Full description

Cycle through the roman countryside passing through the old gate of St Sebastian and along the ancient Appian Way, an old roman road running out of Rome. Pass through the Catacombs of St Callisto, stopping to visit these paleochristian sites of worship on a guided tour. Following the catacombs, continue to cycle to the first section of original roman stones paving the Appian Way, which is still largely intact. Seeing the road the Romans laid immersed in green fields is quite special. Passing the Appia Antica Cafe, take a shortcut to the Park of the Aquaducts through the Park of Tor Fiscale. Cycling alongside the aqueducts till you reach a shaded point for a picnic. Tuck into an Italian-style picnic lunch of Caprese salad, focaccia bread, and fresh fruit. Admire the scenery of the aqueducts whilst enjoying your food with something to drink (wine and other drinks). On your way back into the city, pass through the Cafarella Valley with its natural springs and roman ruins such as the Ninfeo Egeria, an oasis of green in the heat of the summer.

A really fun way to see the aqueducts and Appian way. The trails and parks were beautiful and allowed for minimal cycling on busy streets. We saw impressive areas of Rome and learned of their fascinating history which we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. We felt very safe with our tour guide, Glen, who skillfully led 12 e bikers for 4 hours. The bikes were in new condition and the odd flat tire was repaired very quickly by Glen. The traditional Italian lunch bought at the market was great!

super recommended experience to get to know Rome from a captivating perspective, outside the crowded circuits. Experience suitable for everyone, fun for families with kids who can experience something dynamic in the open air. Expert, professional, super helpful and friendly guide. I am very happy to have had this experience.

The bike ride was beautiful, our Guide Sara very good !!!! The only flaw is that they joined us with 2 Belgians, and Sara always had to repeat the explanations in 2 languages and speak both in Italian and in Belgian. So it's like 2 groups have a shared guide…. The experience with an exclusive native speaker guide would have been 5 stars !!! To do !!!!
