Preikestolen Hidden Trail Hike + Canoe Trip

3. Preikestolen Hidden Trail Hike + Canoe Trip

Do you want to hike to Preikestolen during the day, but without being surrounded by large crowds? Do you want to experience the untamed nature of the mountains in peace? We hike off the beaten track; a path that only the locals know about, and it even includes a canoe ride! Our guide is ready to take you on the definitive day-hike to Norway’s most iconic rock formation! The day starts with being picked up by our guide from one of several designated locations in Stavanger. After a 45-minute drive, we arrive at Preikestolen Basecamp (where restrooms are available). We pick up life vests and canoe ores, and walk down to the beach of the lake, Revsvatnet. Here the guide will provide instructions about safe canoeing, information about the trail, expected conditions, and useful tips for good hiking. When everyone is ready, the adventure begins. We paddle across the lake, make our way onto shore, and hike along an old and forgotten trail. It was rediscovered by a local pioneering guide of the region (our guide’s mentor), and we have it almost entirely to ourselves! The pace allows for time to adjust clothes and equipment, time to rest and enjoy snacks, and for taking pictures along the way. After approximately 3 hours of hiking, we will arrive at Preikestolen, 604 meters right above the legendary Lysefjorden. The sheer cliff face overlooks the fjord, and the panoramic view before us makes for a fantastic reward after all the work it took to get there. After we have enjoyed the scenery and relaxed for a while, we head back down. It normally takes about 2.5 hours to get back down to the parking area. Exhausted but satisfied, we get back in the car. As we get driven back to Stavanger, we process our experience of a day well spent.

What people are saying about Rogaland

Tldr - an awesome gig with a great guide! We started off with a quick, but comprehensive safety/padding training and then we were off. There was also a moment about splash skirts, but I'll let you come up with your own jokes, when the time comes ;) Weather was spectacular for the event, so everything aligned for our group to have an excellent adventure. Our Mighty Dane of a leader proved to be both knowledgeable about his craft and entertaining sharing stories and trivia about the fjord and the surrounding mountains. Pacing was excellent as well, winds and current really helped us get through everything we could possibly see in the allotted time. Things to consider: - transportation - plan your route in advance...duuh - endurance - this was my first time paddling, but if I could manage the whole 14km with no prior training, then you can succeed too (technique matters). Do yourself a solid favor - book the trip, enjoy the stunning views and keep an eye out for seals ;) and jellifish

It was simply an excellent kayak trip on the Lysefjord with Nordic Paddling. They were extremely competent and nothing was missing. We had a fantastic guide in Sebastian, who was always good for stories about the area and good advice on the water. We felt in the best hands while we were on the fjord, so we could just enjoy the fantastic nature. Many recommendations from here.

We had a brilliant 3 hour kayak trip with our guide Dan. The booking was easy and the information sent very comprehensive. Equipment was good and the scenery stunning. I would highly recommend Nordic Paddling

Great trip. Good guidance and you can master the kayaking itself in no time. Beautiful views and steep cliffs. Highly recommended

It was breathtaking! Very nice and helpful tour guide! We recommend!
