Start with a visit to Corcovado Mountain, where you will ride to the base of the 38-meter tall statue of Christ the Redeemer, standing at an altitude of 710 meters (about 2329 feet). Ride by van to the top or board the train, both through the Tijuca Forest, for a preview of the wonderful landscape. Then, marvel at the main monument of Brazil as you take in panoramic views of Rio.
Next, head towards the mythical Maracanã football stadium and observe its imposing façade. Continue to the legendary Sambódromo where the annual Carnival parade takes place. Visit the Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro, a modern structure influenced by Mayan pyramids. Check out the brightly colored tiles of the world-famous Selarón Steps at Lapa, before enjoying a typical Brazilian steakhouse lunch.
After lunch, visit Sugar Loaf in the lovely Urca neighborhood and see one of the most iconic natural landmarks in Rio and the world. Take the cable car to the top in two stages. Stop at the boarding station to the Urca Mount (at 224 meters), before continuing to the summit of Sugar Loaf (at 395 meters).
