Rosslyn Chapel & Scottish Borders Tour from Edinburgh

1. Rosslyn Chapel & Scottish Borders Tour from Edinburgh

Discover the myths and legends surrounding the Holy Grail and Rosslyn Chapel on this small-group tour! You'll also visit the beautiful Borders village of Melrose with its historic abbey. Departing at 9:45 AM, your tour takes you south to the world-famous Scott’s View, with stunning views over the Tweed Valley and the Eildon Hills. You will also get the opportunity to visit the original Wallace Monument. From here you travel to Melrose, including the chance to explore its great Border Abbey, founded by the Cistercians in the 12th Century. The Cistercian monks had very close connections with the Knights Templar and Melrose Abbey is the burial place of Robert the Bruce's heart, brought back from the crusades in Moorish Spain. Following lunch in Melrose, you will make your way to the stunning 15th-century Rosslyn Chapel, immortalized in Dan Brown’s “Da Vinci Code”. Here, you can find out more about the myths and legends surrounding the whereabouts of the “Holy Grail”. From Melrose, you will return to Edinburgh, arriving at approximately 4:15 PM.

Excellent tour. Really nice group size, minibus is really good too. Guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Lovely to get out of the city and see the countryside. Melrose was beautiful. We booked this primarily for Rosslyn Chapel. It's a beautiful building, shame you're not allowed to take inside photos. The visitor centre is well organised, and there's cafe facilities. All in all, a well organised and enjoyable trip.

The trip was amazing and what made is even better was our guide Douglas McQueen. He was a walking encyclopedia with knowledge about every subject we found interesting. The stop at Scott’s view was a beautifull first break from the roadtrip and I loved both the abbey as the Rosslyn chapel. Sad the abbey was closed because of decay. Hopefully it will be open for the public again soon.

Great day, Scott’s view was amazing, Melrose abbey was so beautiful, the borders are wild and pretty, and Rosslyn chapel and old castle were picturesque. Our guide Bruce (not Robert The !!) was knowledgable and friendly..

Sinclair, our driver, made the tour fun and informative. Stay in Melrose could have been shorter but adequate for people having lunch. A good group with only 9 people.

Great tour and Dougie was a great guide! Our tour was informative and entertaining. Highly recommend.
