Full description
Join this guided tour to see the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro, Parque Lage, and the Brazilian Jockey Club. Explore rare collections of bromeliads and orchids, as well as other exotic plants. Spot different species of birds that live in the trees of the gardens. Begin your tour with pickup from your hotel and drive towards Parque Lage, a charming public park located next to Corcovado Hill. Explore the English-style gardens, forested trails, artificial caves, and the stunning mansion at the center of Parque Lage. The palace has served as a filming location for several movies, soap operas, and music videos. Snap photos in front of the superb swimming pool. Admire the view of Christ the Redeemer in the distance. If time allows, stop for a delicious snack at the Plage Café or visit the palace’s shop for art, design, and fashion pieces. Next, go to the Botanical Garden, one of the best-preserved green areas in the city. Explore Rio de Janeiro’s biodiversity. Visit attractions such as the Jardim Sensorial-Sensorial Garden, Lago com a Vitória-Régia, and Lago das Tartarugas. Walk by the bicentennial imperial palm trees while going towards the orchidary. Finally, head to the Jockey Club Brasileiro or Hipódromo da Gávea and discover the largest racetrack for horse racing in all of Brazil. The Jockey Club is open to the public and offers the possibility to watch horse races for free. If there’s time, try your luck by playing a bet and feel the excitement of attending a live horse race. The optional activities depend on the race schedule which varies daily. Then, board your transportation back to your hotel.
