Rio De Janeiro: Half-Day Rocinha Favela Walking Tour

1. Rio De Janeiro: Half-Day Rocinha Favela Walking Tour

Organized by local, English speaking guides and favela hosts, the walking tour is respectful and non-intrusive to the residents. Subject of the movie "City of God," Rio’s favelas have fallen victim to unfortunate stereotypes. In order to correct this, and show you the true Rio de Janeiro, the favela tour will let you see and experience how daily life happens away from the sensationalist headlines. While other favela “zoo-tours” drive around in jeeps, you will get to walk the streets in small groups (average of 10 people) and meet the locals to hear their stories. Learn the history of the favela and its social and economic challenges. The tour cost also includes a monetary contribution to the favela community.

A perfect day in Rio !! With Patricia and "the driver", unfortunately I forgot the name, we had one of the most beautiful days. We came to Rio with the desire to see as much as possible. Our wish was fulfilled and even exceeded. We were very skeptical about Rio but "Pat" opened our eyes and took away all fear and prejudice. We had great tours! We got great background information about the history of the individual points in Rio. The whole day was perfect. The crowning glory was the spontaneous helicopter flight started by "Sugar Love" I can only recommend Pat !!! We emphasized several times today WE WILL COME AGAIN and do another tour with Pat !!! We have never had such a great, perfectly organized tour guide! We will be back !!! Thanks Pat

Edmundo was the best tour guide I have had. He was so experienced and polite. If you come to Rio de Janeiro, you must book this tour just because Edmundo will make it worth your while.

Edmundo was fantastic and we highly recommend. We took our 10 year old son and we felt completely safe the entire time.

Our guide had so much knowledge about the favella and did a great job educating us on life there.
