Initially I thought that I pay too much for the train ticket. But I found I'm grateful and never regret purchased the ticket from Getyourguide.com. I purchased the ticket online early in the morning for the same day trip. The response is quite fast, at about 1 hour I got my ticket. The queue for ticket purchase directly at Cosme Velho station is loooong and you will have another queue only to embark the train. Great decision though!

You do not want to miss this trip. After a fairly straightforward booking process, a.m attempt number 1 to visit Cristo Redentor via an Uber was abandoned. Traffic from Barra to Rio was a nightmare. Uber driver, who spoke no Ingles did an excellent job of getting us back to the hotel. The hotel concierge, Fernanda, contacted the tour provider, who graciously rebooked the tickets for the afternoon. Attempt number 2 was worth the morning drama. The cog train up the hill was amazing, with views of Rio teased between trees. But the view from the top was utterly breathtaking. Then, you stand at the base of Christ and religious or otherwise, you suddenly feel quite insignificant. An emotional moment I’ll remember for the rest of my life. If you do little else in Rio, you must do this.

A lovely train ride and experience at the statue. Some queueing to be expected. Be sure to tell the queue attendants that you have an Internet voucher and they move you to the next queue to exchange voucher for tickets. Then queue before boarding for tourist photos, just a few minutes till the next tran is ready.
