You will be pick up at your accommodation or meet at our agency. We'll drive outside Rovaniemi to reach a magical place. We will start a hike in winter wonderland magical site, you will feel like walking on the moon. Some hot drink and cookies will be served during the hike. Feel free to take photos and videos as you might not see again this kind of landscapes. After the hike we'll head back to Rovaniemi

Riisitunturi is a national park located approximately 150 kilometres east of Rovaniemi in a hilly area of Finnish Lapland. Riisitunturi National Park is famous for having beautiful photogenic winter sceneries with majestic snowy trees. Thick blankets of snow and ice turn spruce trees into big puffy marshmallows that attract tourists and photography enthusiasts coming from all around the world. Your guide will pick you up in the morning and drive you approximately 2 hours from Rovaniemi through the Arctic wilderness. During the drive, you can admire all the beautiful views that the winter in Lapland offers. When you reach your destination, it's time for a 4-kilometres-long walk in the national park. Maybe we will take snowshoes with us to make your tour more adventurous! Your guide will take you to the best spots where you can admire the beauty of Arctic nature in Finnish Lapland. Most likely you will have a chance to observe stunning snowy giants (the snow load of a full-grown spruce tree can be up to four tonnes) and unique winter scenery typical for Riisitunturi National Park. As you hike through this winter wonderland, your guide will keep an eye on wildlife and teach you more about nature and your surroundings. Refreshments and a typical Finnish campfire snack will be served around the open fire to keep you warm. This is a great opportunity for your guide to show you how to build a fire as natives do. No need for matches or a lighter, your guide will use flint & steel and natural materials you can find in the nature that surrounds you (we can do this in conditions as cold as -30°C). Lunchtime is also a great moment for your guide to share their passion and knowledge and answer all your questions about nature, Lapland and life in the Arctic. The excursion lasts around 9 hours, including transportation, hiking and the convivial time around the fire. You will be back in Rovaniemi around 17.00. In all our activities, our groups are limited to 8 people maximum. It is very important for us to provide you with the best experience possible, and avoid mass tourism. This way, your guide will know you better and will be able to address all your needs and answer your questions. As we usually say - the smaller the group, the bigger the experience!

This hike will take you the the snowshoeing experience in stunning fell landscapes of Riisitunturi National park. After you have met your guide and get your gears, transfer around 30 minutes to the starting point of the hike. The route takes you through the snow-covered forest, from where you climb up to witness panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness and Kitkajärvi, Europe´s largest spring water lake. Along the way you will learn about the arctic nature, way of life and of course enjoy a coffee break by the fire. The length of the hike is 3-6 kilometers depending on the chosen route. your guide will decide the route depending on current conditions and the group. Minimum age of 12 years is required for participation. Duration 5-6 hours.

Riisitunturi National Park is home to some of the most dramatic and awe-inspiring landscapes in Lapland. These are scenes you cannot find even in the finest postcards. We will travel as a team and the whole adventure is done in small groups only. Riisitunturi adventure is especially recommended for photographers and those with the heart of an explorer. We will climb high up the fells, to reach unforgettable views above the horizon. On the way you will experience frozen forests full of snow crowded trees and amazing views opening around us when we climb higher on our journey. On the way we will have multiple photography stops to capture the amazing Arctic nature around us. Your adventure starts from Rovaniemi and you will travel 2 hours in comfortable minivan to Riisitunturi national park. There, you will take around 4 km hike in the national park. Your guide, professional photographer will take the most memorable photos of you during the day and will send you prfessional edited pictures after the adventure. During the day, you will be served with lunch which includes Lappish specialty sandwiches together with sausages grilled on the campfire. We will prepare our food in the middle of nature while enjoying a relaxing break among beautiful sceneries and breathing our lungs full of the cleanest and purest Arctic air. After the full day adventure in national park, you will head back to Rovaniemi and get dropped back to you accommodation.
