Berlin: 2.5-Hour Neighborhood Tour of Neukölln

1. Berlin: 2.5-Hour Neighborhood Tour of Neukölln

Set off on a journey through time on this fascinating walking tour of the Neukölln neighborhood in Berlin. Hear about how this part of the city has developed into the multicultural hub that it is today. With the approval of Wilhelm II, Rixdorf was renamed Neukölln in 1912. The reason for this was a simple image problem, for the city south of Berlin was the epitome of frivolous entertainment. However, the origins of Rixdorf can be traced back much further than this and provide a very different picture. Religious faith and puritanism shaped the everyday life of the Bohemian Exulanten (Protestant refugees) who settled here alongside the German population as early as the 18th century. Explore the heart of Neukölln around Richardplatz, which still radiates a village-like atmosphere today, and embark on an exciting journey from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Tobias was incredibly well informed, a great story teller, thoughtful and pleasant to spend time with. There are a lot of grey non-descript buildings in Neukölln, but the history behind them is interesting. And reaching the 'villages' of Rixdorf - that was a shock! We were also impressed about how he was able to adapt the story of Neukölln throwing references in about our own countries.

Tobias gave us the most wonderful tour of Neukölln. It was very interesting and was very detailed about the history of the area with very interesting examples from historic photos, articles, quotes and historic cartoons to compare with the what you see today. It was most pleasant and engaging.

This tour was amazing, Tobias knows a lot about the area, we learned so much about the history, architecture and culture of the area! We totally recommend it, it's the details and stories about the area which give it its charm, and there's no way to enjoy it properly without this.

Wonderful, today and yesterday in a guided tour

Thank you, Mr. Steinle, for the great tour! You can tell you put your heart and soul into it when it comes to Neukölln! Thanks to your comment, we saw the "Raisin Bomber" fly over today! Impressive!

We were very surprised what there is to discover in Neukölln. A very entertaining tour. Our guide was really great.
