Full description
See beautiful waterfalls, stunning black sand beaches, and one of Iceland’s biggest glaciers on a small group hike. Start your 2.5-hour hike at the Solheimarjökull glacier and see the glacier’s outlet flowing down from the stunning Myrdálsjökull glacier. The ice cap of the glacier covers the crater of Katla, one of the most powerful volcanoes in Iceland. After the hike, make your way to the black sand beaches of Reynisfjara and explore this dramatic landscape. Having now reached the most Southern point of this tour, the group will turn and make its way back in the direction of Reykjavik. Stop at the famous Skogarfoss waterfall with its dramatic 60-meter falls. Savor yet another of Mother Earth’s superb creations before heading to Seljalandsfoss where, if conditions allow, you can take a walk behind the waterfall’s curtain. Pay a visit to Gljúfrabúi, found hidden from view in the mountainside before heading back along the coastal road.

Know before you go

  • The glacier hike is designed for first-timers, but some of the parts go through steep and icy terrain
  • Full mobility is required in order to have a safe and enjoyable trip on the glacier
  • The weather in Iceland is unpredictable and heavy rainfall or strong winds can make the glacier inaccessible, in which case the group will walk through the valley next to it and add some extra stops along the tour
