Pickup begins 30 minutes prior to the tour start time. Please be ready and on the lookout for a green Smartbus. As each driver usually has a few stops to make, it can take up to 30 minutes to finish the pickup service; there is no need to worry if the bus is not there exactly on time. Pickup is available from most hotels, hostels, and guesthouses. In the city center, some areas are restricted to buses, and therefore buses can only stop at nearby bus stops. If you need directions to your nearest bus stop, please visit this website: www.busstop.is. Bus drivers weren’t very helpful. Almost was left at Blue Lagoon because she wanted me to have a paper ticket instead of a digital one. It was the last bus of the night and we would have been stranded. We only got about an hour at the lagoon since our tour didn’t start until 6pm. First bus driver couldn’t answer any questions, just said go in and ask at desk when we first arrived.

This was by far the longest tour we’ve ever undertaken, mainly because it’s 2 tours put together. It lasted 14 hours from hotel pick up to hotel drop off, but I wouldn’t change anything. We only had 3 days in Reykjavik having disembarked from a cruise, so this was the perfect way to do the essentials sightseeing away from the city itself.

We had a very long day which started with a local minibus that picked us up from the hotel and took us to the centre where the tour bus was ready. The Golden Circle tour was amazing with an excellent guide all the way and this certainly met our expectations of what we hoped to see and experience. We were then taken on a new bus to the Blue Lagoon for the evening and arrived there around 19:00. Unfortunately the tour company had booked us an entry there at 21:00 so we were not allowed to go in. However, after a lot of discussion with the reception there they allowed us entry later when they saw that not all the booked places had been filled. So when we finally were allowed to go in the experience there was also incredible and we finished off with an excellent dinner at the Lava restaurant there.
