Full description

Embark on an evening trip to see the Aurora Borealis. Hear fascinating facts about them from your guides, visit the Aurora Museum, and search to see the lights firsthand.

Depart the bright lights of Reykjavík city center to see the dancing lights of the Aurora Borealis. Also known as the “Northern Lights,” it is one of the most spectacular shows during winter months. Head for wherever meteorologists have predicted the lights will be at their best. To get stunning views of the sky you will aim for areas with no artificial light.

Hear explanations of how the Aurora Borealis is caused as a result of the gaseous particles in the earth’s atmosphere colliding with charged particles released from the sun’s atmosphere. Benefit from an itinerary that includes stops for you to go outside and take photographs. The locations visited differ from day to day, but you will head in the direction with the most chance of seeing Mother Nature at work.

As the tour is weather-dependent, and sightings are not guaranteed, you are also invited to join another Northern Lights tour free of charge if the lights don’t appear.  Explore the Northern Lights in the Aurora Museum. The Northern Lights tour includes a complimentary ticket for a self-guided visit to the museum in Reykjavik, valid on the day you join the tour, from the time you receive confirmation that the tour is on.

  • Evening trip to see the Aurora BorealisTransportation
  • Professional guide
  • Stops to take photos
  • Entry to the Aurora Museum (on the day of the tour only)

Drove to where there were no clouds and saw the lights. The guide was very informative and even provided hot chocolate to warm everyone up. Definitely recommend, but remember it's weather dependent you won't be able to see them if too much thick cloud.

Did the tour a couple times. Like everyone said, it’s pretty chaotic at the bus pick up stop. The bus is clean and the guides are very good. It’s a northern lights hunt so you may or may not see them depending on the cloud cover and how active they may be on a given night. First night we did not see them so we rode the bus a few days later and they put on a great show. Definitely worth the time and money. I would recommend going with them so you can get an understanding of them and how they actually look like in person. The bus stayed out late and gave us some extra time to view the lights. It was a wonderful experience.

We visited Iceland in March and went to a Northen lights bus tour. We were so lucky with our tourguide, Marton. He gave us lots of information about this natural phenomenon and showed us. That was a magnificent experienxe. We could take lots of pictures. the Hot chocolate what he served in that freezing cold was life saver. Only one negative thing, -Bus stop 12 - pick up point (place) is too small , Buses of different companies in the same time try to pick up their passengers + that place is the nearby hotel's guests pick up and drop off point.... was so so chaotic. All overall we were lucky to see the Northern lights.
