Full description
Get great value for money with this extremely popular multi-activity day tour from Reykjavík. Lava caving is one of Iceland's special features. This lava tunnel exploration is a relatively mild caving experience and is suitable for everyone in decent physical shape and who is wearing appropriate shoes. You begin your day speeding across the beautiful Icelandic countryside in a purpose-built ATV quad bike. Your destination is the top of a mountain where you can enjoy amazing panoramic views of Reykjavík City and its surrounding mountains. Then after experiencing the heights, dive down under the earth to explore the caves of an ancient lava tunnel. You experienced guides will lead you through the pitch-black underground tunnels formed by past volcanic eruptions. Standing underground inside the Earth is a feeling you will never forget. The darkness is so dense that it would be impossible to see anything without your caving headlight. Fortunately you will be able to see, as the stalactites and natural ice formations of the cave are simply stunning. You will lose all conception of time and forget about the world overhead as you descend into the cave's darkness on this fun expedition.

A fantastic day with enthusiastic guides, very well organised.

Great day from start to finish. We hired a quad each (4 of us) and the quads were amazing to drive. Our guide for the morning, known as...…….. Sir Kaktuz made the day even more enjoyable. The quads were incredibly fast and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Then the lava cave in the afternoon was very interesting, I'm afraid that the name of the lady guide has slipped my mind. She was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions relating to the lava cave. I will always remember switching off our head torches and being plunged into complete darkness whilst our guide told us a story about Icelandic Santa Clauses. Great day! :)

Guide was super.

We really enjoyed it. The guide, Addy was awesome. The organization should do a better job of describing trip's "technical" elements, as well as, how to dress appropriately for the hands and knees part. This isn't a leisurely stroll through a cave. We had 2 in our party who decided not to go last minute, and they made a good choice, as they would not have enjoyed it.

A wonderful day!

We had a great day out. It was winter and snowing, but we could go on the quads well equipped in snow gear so we did not freeze at all. For the cave tour we were only two of us plus the guide. He was super friendly and helpful, very accommodating in case you had problems with the machines or with moving in the cave. He dropped us off at a very nice restaurant afterwards instead of our hotel. It was an active day and we got to see the lovely landscape. Can highly recommend the trip.
