  • Reykjavik: Hiking Tour to Iceland's Newest Active Volcano

    1. Reykjavik: Hiking Tour to Iceland's Newest Active Volcano

Start with pickup from Reykjavik and then begin your 2-3 hour hike up to the viewing point of Geldingadalir, Iceland's newest erupting volcano. The volcano erupted close to Fagradalsfjall, in a valley named Geldingadalur on the evening of March 19, 2021. Observe a rare display of mother nature's ferocious power as you see the lava spew forth from the earth's core. Watch as the glowing lava flows from the cone, and creates entirely new landscapes.

We found the guide very informative, friendly and caring. Several times I had to catch my Breath snd he came back down to assure I was fine and walk with me a bit. We did not see the lava glowing or flowing but nonetheless was an incredible experience! Will do it again in a couple of days time for sure. Thank you Bim and Arjun

Really lovely experience. Weather was cold, windy, and rainy, so it was quite an adventure! Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. One note: if you are out of shape, this is not the hike for you. Others on our trip had a hard time. If you get a bit of regular exercise, this will be perfect for you.

It was an amazing experience to see an active volcano, I know some days is not possible to see the volcano active because of the weather, but this time everything was perfect. The comments of Vjeran were interesting and there was a friendly atmosphere in the tour

Excellent activity. Our guide Oday (?) was knowledgable, explained the plans and next steps along the way. He was thoughtful and helpful. We saw the volcano gushing out lava for about an hour, on and off due to low clouds. But the hike itself was also fun.
