The Fagradalsfjall Volcano is erupting for the first time in 7,000 years. Once at the valley, put on your hiking gear and head towards the volcano to hopefully see some live lava flowing. Bring snacks along with you and enjoy them while you watch the spectacular natural show. Afterward, as you drive along the peninsula, your guide will fill you in on the history of volcanos in the area — many long-dormant, now covered by soft green lava moss.

Our guide Boje and driver Sentri (probably not the correct spelling) we’re fun and informative and kept everyone safe on this trip. Sadly the weather was horrendous but that’s nature. We saw some smouldering lava and could feel the heat, sadly nothing else. It gives us a reason to come back.

We found the guide very informative, friendly and caring. Several times I had to catch my Breath snd he came back down to assure I was fine and walk with me a bit. We did not see the lava glowing or flowing but nonetheless was an incredible experience! Will do it again in a couple of days time for sure. Thank you Bim and Arjun

What people are saying about Reykjanes

This was a great tour, our guide was a good driver, very knowledgeable and funny. The volcano wasn't erupting when we went although it did start to smoke as we were leaving. It was still amazing seeing a volcano so close and the black lava that was also still smouldering. The blue lagoon was great, there were quite a lot of people there but it's so large you have plenty of space. It really is beautiful and my skin felt amazing after (just try not to get your hair wet, it dries it out). Definitely highly recommend this tour!

Really great tour to the volcano. This is a once in a lifetime experience! Who has: Take headlights for the descent, there are some from the organizer, but unfortunately they are not particularly bright. Otherwise, really great organization!

Our guide Ásgeír (Iceman) was excellent with great humour and pacing and with super knowlegde about everything. Would definitely recommend to other people

We were so lucky to see a fresh lava flow. Simon and his father were so supportive, knowledge and encouraging. Thankd you

Super informative tour and we were lucky that the volcano was active again.
