Full description

Explore one of the great wine-producing areas of France on a small group tour of the Champagne region. Sample the sparkling produce of this world-renowned area, such as the Champagne Pommery. The vineyard's production is supplemented by the contractual acquisition of grapes from independent suppliers operating the finest vineyards in the Champagne region.  En route to Épernay, travel through the Marne Valley vineyards to meet the legendary monk Dom Pérignon who produced the most expensive wines of France in the 17th century and is now buried in the church of the former Benedictine Hautvillers Abbey.

Visit Épernay, often referred to as the Capital of Champagne Wine, where the main street appears like an exhibition of luxurious mansions housing illustrious Maisons de Champagne.  Discover some of the most prestigious names, including Moët & Chandon, Perrier-Jouët, and Pol Roger, and learn about the 100 kilometers of tunnels beneath the street. Take a break to enjoy lunch in one of several options in the city center during 1 hour of free time.  Next, take a guided tour and enjoy a Champagne tasting at a local authentic family domain.

Awesome tour!! Usually we do things ourselves without a tour guide, but we only had one day and there’s no way we would be able to do so much in such a short time. We don’t regret a bit! The day was fun and our guide was super knowledgeable and entertaining!

This was really the only way to see what we wanted to see in the region. It worked out very well our driver was very friendly and actually lived in the tiny little village where Dom Perignon discovered making bubbles for wine. The wine houses were fun. Taittinger had the better tour and the guide was very entertaining. Most & Chandon’s cellars were much more impressive to wander though. The wines were very comparable with each other overall. The best wine we had all day was from the tiny little place our driver suggested for lunch, Pierre Mignon. Overall it was worth it and nice to have a driver, otherwise you couldn’t do it all in a day. It was also amazing to see the church in Reims itself at the start of the day also.

Even though already had a walk through in Reims previous day the guide gave a great and improved impression of the City. Visits to Taittinger and Moet & Chandon was good, but the information from the house guides was a bit repetitive since Champagne is produced the same way both places. The tasting gave the opportunity to know the difference and individual preferences. Our guide Sebastian was excellent; informative, helpful and full of knowledge.
