9. Regensburg: Day Trip to Passau and the Veste Oberhaus
Our tour takes you to the beautiful city of Passau, located at the confluence of three rivers - the Danube, Inn, and Ilz. Our first stop is the St. Stephen's Cathedral, a magnificent baroque structure that dominates the city skyline. The cathedral's interior is equally impressive, with ornate decorations and a magnificent organ, which is one of the largest in the world.
After visiting the cathedral, you explore the city's charming old town, which is home to a variety of historic buildings, narrow alleyways, and quaint shops. We also make a stop at the Veste Oberhaus, a medieval fortress that offers stunning views of the city and the surrounding countryside.
For those interested in religious history, we also visit the Mariahilf Pilgrimage Church, a beautiful example of rococo architecture that dates back to the 18th century. The church is renowned for its ornate decorations and stunning frescoes.
Throughout the tour, our guide will share stories about the history and culture of Passau, from its role as a key trading center in the Middle Ages to its modern-day importance as a center of education and culture.
Passau is a city with a rich history and a vibrant cultural scene, and our tour is the perfect way to experience all that it has to offer.
