4. Breivikeidet: Introduction to Cross-Country Skiing

The tour departs outside the Scandic Ishavshotel where you will be picked up for a scenic 50-minute transfer to our camp in Breivikeidet. Upon arrival at our camp in Breivikeidet, situated in a picturesque valley close to the sea, you will be welcomed by your tour guide. We will provide you with thermal suits, boots, hat, mittens and cross-country gear (skis and poles). Before heading out on this adventure, we will teach you some basic skills: how to move, how to put your skis on, how to fall and get back on your skis. With these techniques under your belt, you will then trek through the beautiful alpine landscape together with the guide. Trust us - you do not need to have any previous experience - you will get it during the day along with the instructor. After the tour, you are invited into our lavvu (traditional sami tent) where you can warm up by the campfire with some hot drinks and cake. In addition, our basecamp is also the starting point for dogsledding tours, so there are about 80 huskies on the location ready to meet people and be cuddled with. After you have had some time to relax and warm up, you will be driven back to the city with hopefully great memories of your cross-country adventure!

I believe I sent in a review already but here goes. The Sami guides were excellent. "John" was funny, serious, helpful and very informative as was the young woman (sorry but I've forgotten her name). Feeding the reindeer is an experience i will never forget. The history of the Sami culture was incredibly heartwarming as was the explanation of the meaning of the markings on the clothing of the adults and children. John's performance of his personal joik and the back story of how he came to begin this tradition was also wonderful. I can't thank them enough and recommend them most highly to anyone that is interested in this type of your. Thank you all again.

Literally lived my best life for 4 hours. Feeding the reindeer was amazing. The whole Sami experience was very interesting and I learned alot . It was incredibly cold though but suits were provided. Be aware the reindeer can get a little fiesty but it is only because they want the food. I would recommend this experience. Only gripe is the tour guide who picked us up told us nothing , wasn't very chatty at all and wasn't overly helpful either at the pick up point. Still giving the actual activity 5 stars as was epic. Wear good boots too!

Great staff, beautiful place, a lot of time to spend with reindeers. You initially get one bucket of food for the reindeers but the staff give you more if you want. The vegetarian meal could be a bit better though. The meat eaters enjoyed a lot their stew. There were amazing puppies at the property which made the trip even better.

My husband and I actually had another excursion booked that got canceled and we last minute booked this reindeer experience and could not be happier that we did. I was floored to learn about the Sami people, truly such a fascinating culture! The reindeer could not have been cuter as well. 10/10 reccomend!

Just what I expected. The guide was very knowledgable. Food and hot drinks included, the reindeer stew was very nice.
