  • Punta Cana: Monkey Land Half-Day Safari

    1. Punta Cana: Monkey Land Half-Day Safari

Begin the tour with a visit to the coconut house or “Casa del Coco” to learn how coconut oil is produced and to taste fresh organic products. There you will have the opportunity to try exotic Caribbean fruits, roasted coffee and cacao. The next 45 minutes are spent in a guided tour where you will interact in close proximity with beautiful and friendly squirrel monkeys. These charming and intelligent monkeys have been trained by a Canadian couple with more than 35 years of experience working with animals, including 12 years at the Toronto Zoo teaching monkeys to trust and enjoy the company of humans. The tour is based on 5 acres of a beautiful piece of land that monkeys have made their home. The monkeys are completely accustomed to human contact – they come down from the trees to sit on your shoulder and eat from your hands. They also love to pose for the cameras, especially for selfies...

What an informative and fun excursion! Rudy was our tour guide and our travel to and from the hotel was (Sexy Pappi) Chris whom was very funny and informative as well! I really appreciated the love and gentleness the guides had and provided the squirrel monkeys! I really developed and great application for the DR and their resources! The directions provided for pick up could’ve been more precise abba accurate! I waited for an hour at one location and on chatting with an agent through the app, I was informed to wait elsewhere which was completely wrong as he provided me correspondence that I assumed was supposed to be emailed to me, that I never received, stated to wait elsewhere at another location at a different time.

I really liked the tour. It is definitely far from being a mass tourism tour as it was only me and the guide. We walked around 5km on partly muddy ways, so make sure you can dealing with your shoes getting dirty ;) I learned about fruits and flowers and also about the living in the Dominican Republic itself.

Very good excursion. The guide is really nice and the organisation is well. One remark during the horse riding the guide told me that he was a volunteer that frustrated me a lot as I didn’t bring money for this activity as the information wasn’t in the description.I recommend to the local agency to add the tips to the excursion price as I don’t think That I was the only one in this case that is not good for the horses guide volunteer that were really nice and helpful.

Everything super well organized. There was a tropical storm on the scheduled date and they rearranged everything perfectly for another day. Friendly, efficient ... The theme of the horseback excursion is a bit seedy: there are at least 200 horses (really) and the waterfall is beautiful but there are so many people that it becomes horrible. I recommend reef jet to get around the island as it is fast and cheap.

- Benjamin and Rafael provided such an amazing experience. Benjamin was so energetic, knowledgeable, and fun throughout our ride. Rafael was a great driver, and had great energy as well. I loved interacting with the monkeys and learning about them. Who knew monkeys have to eat 8x a day? Wow! I thought I had a heavy appetite-lol! This was an incredible time!

Pretty unique your experience all the way around. From the Narcos style plane flight to the beauty of the waterfall, and with all the little touches that made this tour what it was, I’d highly recommend. Nanó did a great job.
