Enjoy a pickup after sunset from your hotel lobby in Puerto Escondido. Head towards the Manialtepec lagoon in the darkness of night.  Marvel at a spectacular natural show while crossing the lagoon in a boat with the help of a local instructor. Experience the delightful reaction of how millions of microorganisms begin to illuminate the water as you swim or while you touch the water through the boat. Witness this rare event as there are only 2 lagoons in Mexico that have this spectacular and beautiful phenomenon. The color may vary from white to blue. Passing midnight and after enjoying this remarkable experience, you will be taken back to your hotel in Puerto Escondido. Subject to the lunar calendar. Observation of the phenomenon is not possible, during the full moon days.

At 2 pm, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Escondido and set off for the community of San José Manialtepec by van. The journey should only take 20 minutes. The saddled horses will be waiting for you when we arrive, after which you can start a fantastic adventure through some of the most extraordinary spots in San José Manialtepec. On the backs of your well trained horse, you'll head deep into the jungle and go through up to four different crossings along the Manialtepec River. This is the perfect way to explore its beautiful rural landscapes and discover unique trees such as the ceiba, which is considered to be a sacred tree by different pre-Hispanic cultures. After crossing the jungle, you'll arrive at one of the coastal Manialtepec lagoon's banks, where you get into canoes and paddle to the other side. Don't forget to look back! You won't want to miss the delightful sight of the horses swimming behind us crossing the lagoon as well. You'll arrive at the "Puerto Suelo" Beach where you?ll enjoy the sunset riding on the beach. The locals will be waiting for you, and will kindly offer the warmth of a bonfire with some delicious bonbones - the perfect way to get your strength back after our activities! We'll then get back on the horses and return to our route's starting point, from which we'll take you back to your hotel in Puerto Escondido. Our estimated arrival time is 9 pm.

Start the tour with pick up from the lobby of your hotel in Puerto Escondido. Then, set off on an adventure to Manialtepec Lagoon in 'Las Negras' town where a boat will be waiting for you. Climb aboard and begin exploring the lagoon and its wonderful natural refuge of migratory and local birds. Navigate through the dense vegetation so you can see the different kinds of mangroves. After 2 hours of sailing, reach the end of the lagoon where you can observe the union of the river, the sea and the lagoon - an impressive view. Next, sail up the Manialtepec River until you will arrive at Puerto Suelo, a beautiful beach where you can disembark to take a walk, swim or enjoy a delicious meal in the palapas. After approximately 1.5 hours of exploring here, take the boat to go back to the community. Here, a van will be waiting to return you to Puerto Escondido.
