Aquarium of the Bay
Aquarium of the Bay is San Francisco's only waterfront aquarium, located at PIER 39 in Fisherman's Wharf. A unique experience with four exhibit areas: Discover the Bay introduces you to adolescent marine life; Under the Bay boasts 300 feet of crystal clear acrylic tunnels holding 700,000 gallons of carefully maintained bay water that sustains approximately 20,000 marine animals from octopuses to eight-foot native, sevengill sharks; Touch the Bay is where you can feel what it’s like to touch a bat ray, leopard shark and other land animals; and the River Otter Exhibit is where North American River Otters swim, play and cavort with each other. Visitors are also treated to mesmerizing walls of moon jellies and sea nettles. Visit Aquarium of the Bay and learn how you can make a difference in ocean conservation. Aquarium of the Bay is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is the only Smithsonian Affiliate of its kind in California.
