  • Sintra: Private Tour With A Historian

    1. Sintra: Private Tour With A Historian

There are two main intentions of this tour: that you absorb the true history of the region from an independent History researcher, and that you take back beautiful memories of the area. You'll be picked up at Sintra's train station, around 9 a.m. This tour includes tickets to Sintra's monuments, accompanied every step of the way by a historian. You will have lunch in a traditional place, where you can truly taste Portugal's gastronomy. Along the way you will visit Quinta da Regaleira, Palácio de Monserrate, Cabo da Roca, and Praia da Adraga - where you will have lunch. Afterwards, you will also experience Convento dos Capuchos, Chalet da Condessa D'Edla, and Parque e Palácio Nacional da Pena, before you head back home.

    2. Sintra: Portuguese Beaches and Colares Private Jeep Tour

At beginning of your private tour, you will be picked up at your accommodation at 9:00 AM, where you will meet your friendly guide and your fantastic 4x4 jeep that will be yours for the day. Sintra is not just the magical, mountainous villa people know of but it's also a whole council of 319,2 km² that includes an amazing coastline, with more than a dozen natural beaches, and a vast area of rural villages with lots of traditions. • Sintra and the Amazing Dream Villages Tour

    3. Sintra and the Amazing Dream Villages Tour

In a quiet environment a few minutes from the capital, explore a great selection of the best villages near Sintra. The fact that these villages continue to have unusual life habits, they recreate the way of life of Portugal's ancestors, preserved through smells, colors, and traditions. Visit the charming Azenhas do Mar, a village that has become one of the most famous Portuguese tourist spots. Discover the village of Penedo, perched high on a hillside still home to traditional houses. Walk along its steep and winding streets and alleys. It is a treasure of the traditional architecture of the saloia region. Visit secret villages where you will feel like you are in an open-air museum, where the way of life of Portugal's ancestors is preserved. Travel back in time in the village of José Franco. Get to know a local man's dream that recreated a village of ethnographic character, a testimony ...

Of course in Sintra one must visit Pena & other palaces, and Quinta de Regaleira. But there are so many MORE gems that are hidden as well. This tour is a must to actually learn about traditional life in Portugal (which the normal tourist sites do not show at all). And Filipe was a fantastic tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and very fun. He obviously loves his country as well. If all you want to learn is who built a chair in a palace, this is not the tour for you - stick with the run-of-the-mill palace tours. But if you want to know what life was like in the small village, call Filipe. You won’t be disappointed.
