Extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional tour guide. I highly recommend.
Begin your journey with your expert guide and head south to the Postojna Caves, the second-longest cave system in the country. Take a magical train ride into the underworld labyrinth of caves that were created by the Pivka River. Learn interesting information about the cave system from your local guide and useful audio guide. Experience this incredible cave on foot and ascend to the surface by the electric train. Take a short drive through the forest to the majestic Predjama Castle, perched on a cliff right above a river and cave opening. Explore the chambers and stairwells and learn about the castle’s most famous resident, the Slovenian Robin Hood- knight Erasmus. Have the opportunity, depending on the schedule, to take a secret route on the return trip to Ljubljana and discover hidden and forgotten gems.
Amazing trip, really made my time in Ljublijana special, especially seeing the caves! Cannot recommend this trip enough. The guide was fantastic, he has a lot of knowledge about the country and every spot we visited. He went out of his way to make it comfortable and fun. Would highly recommend!
Postojna Cave, the queen of all caves, is the best-known cave in the world. It is also the greatest tourist attraction in Slovenia and one of the world’s largest karst (limestone) monuments. This is the only place in the world where the underground landscape can be traversed on an electric train and where you get to meet this underground kingdom’s most famous inhabitant – the proteus (olm) – up close. A fantastic web of tunnels, passages, galleries and halls, astonishing diversity of karst features, as well as easy access are certainly the main reasons for the popularity of the cave and a large number of visitors (more than 36 million of them in over 200 years). The Predjama Castle reigns over the surrounding area, not far from the Postojna Cave, in the idyllic village of Predjama. This picturesque, magnificent, defiant, mysterious, and impregnable castle has been perched up in the midd...
Really special experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of extra information about Slovenia too. Thank you!
What makes Ljubljana special is not only its cultural heritage, though it was once and still is a place of many great minds. From a traveler's perspective, it is an exceptionally good starting point for exploring Slovenia’s mountains and valleys, seaside and rivers, caves and forests. It is well connected with other towns and basically half-way to anywhere. The old city center has a unique architectural appearance, particularly due a felicitous combination of Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture and masterful creations by the 20th century architect Joze Pleznik. Visit Ljubljana and walk around the city to soak up its vibrant atmosphere. Discover why the Triple Bridge is actually triple, where locals buy their food, how Napoleon was one of the most popular politicians, why Slovenia really lives with LOVE in its name and much more... From Ljubljana, continue to the Karst region of Slove...
Our driver, who was our guide as well, was excellent! He was very friendly and dedicated. During the tour, he shared with us his deep knowledge on the history of Croatia and Slovenia. His knowledge was far beyond that of ordinary guides. Thanks to his explanation, we enjoyed the tour more. Although we had a minor problem on the schedule, he made his best effort to re-arrange our schedule.
Depart Ljubljana or Bled and journey to the underground world of Postojna Cave, the most popular karst cave in the world. Upon arrival, take a guided tour of the cave system by electric train, and then walk through the beautiful passages and chambers of spectacular drop stones, pillars, limestone curtains and other extraordinary natural wonders. Continue to the idyllic village of Predjama and visit the Renaissance castle built within the mouth of a cave. Admire the fairytale setting and architecture of the medieval fortress of Predjama Castle, famous as the former seat of the knight Erazem Lueger. Marvel at the dramatic setting among the hills of the Inner Carniola region. Learn the legend of Erazem Lueger, a renowned robber baron sometimes referred to as the "Slovenian Robin Hood." Hear other local folk tales and traditions and stop for some local spirit tasting in Postojna, before t...
We had a great day with Nina. The pickup was on time and the van was comfortable and the air conditioning was great. The first stop was Predjama castle which was unlike anything I had seen before and not sure how they built that structure in to the mountain. The caves were also great. I haven’t explored caves before so I can’t really compare but the structures inside were fantastic. Definitely bring a sweater or a light jacket. It was extremely hot the day we visited but was was freezing with a sweater by the time we left. Nina was a great guide and driver and was waiting for us nearby when we left each attraction. I highly recommend this tour.

Postojna Cave is a breathtaking site, known for its uniqueness, complexity and beauty. It is the only cave in Europe with a two-way railway specifically designed for sightseeing. Marvel at the cave's beautiful formations and natural galleries. The caves are also home to the endemic olm, the largest trogloditic amphibian in the world. The tour through the caves includes an aquarium with some olms in it. Just 9 kilometers from Postojna Cave is Predjama Castle, a Renaissance castle built within a cave mouth. In 1570, the current castle was built in the Renaissance style, pressed next to a vertical cliff under the original medieval fortification. The castle has remained in this form, virtually unchanged, to the present day. You can learn about the history of the castle and its use as a location in several films in the castle's museum.

This was a great tour that we thoroughly enjoyed but Tine absolutely made the trip. Tine was wonderfully professional and efficient while also being very personable, funny :), and knowledgeable. His experience in navigating everything from the roads to the logistics of getting into the sites really made the day comfortable. I really enjoyed the information about the area as well as Slovenia throughout the trip. I could have listened to him tell more stories!
Having a guide like Vladimir Alla Fossil is one of the things that makes "tours like locals" such a special concept, the tour to Predjama Castle and Postojna Cave felt more like a grand adventure with an old friend. The tour did not disappoint, Predjama and Postojna are well established tourist locations in Slovenia. Along the way, Vladimir pointed out numerous points of interest and historical significance.
