Full description
After being picked up from your accommodation in Porto or the Douro Valley region, embark on a full-day private guided tour. Begin the tour with a 1.5-hour cruise on a rabelo boat, a traditional Portuguese wooden cargo boat that was used for centuries to transport people and goods along the Douro River. Relive Douro's history as you learn about how wine was transported in wooden barrels, by boat or train, to the cellars of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.  After the boat tour, stop for a lunch at a panoramic restaurant with incredible views over the river. Savor regional dishes from one of the most privileged balconies in the area. When you've finished eating and soaking up the views, embark on a scenic train ride through the valley towards Tua. Arrive at a local vineyard where you will have the opportunity to sample honey, wine, and olive oil. At the end of the tour, you will be filled with inspiring tales of the Douro Valley and unforgettable memories.

We had a wonderful day with Cecília touring the Duoro valley by car and boat. Cecília picked us up at our hotel in Porto and took us for a beautiful drive through the valley before we embarked on a boat that traveled up the river. The ride was gorgeous with breathtaking views of the hills and vineyards. We had lunch at a very local spot that allowed us to try out authentic Portuguese dishes. We loved the "river fish" with its unique sauce. After that, we took a quick train ride back to the car and headed out for a wine tasting and brief tour in a quaint winery in the hills. We loved the tasting. Cecília was such a great guide, informing us about the people and culture in the Duoro valley. We had so much fun and it was nice to have a day where we kicked back and let someone else take us to these lovely locations. Thank you Cecília. We highly recommend this tour.

Great way to enjoy the Douro region in a more private setting

The combination of activities and different ways of transportation was nice (boat, train, car). Very nice lunch with beautiful view of the river. We visited an olive oil museum and also had a wine tasting there. Despite our guide Sylvia being more than 30 minutes late to pick us (she did phone) up she did a great job and gave us a bonus visit of a beautiful church on the way back to Porto - worth including in the program? To complete the day it could be nice to add a visit to a porto estate as well.

    A must do!

This is the best way to experience the Douro Valley.  It is a journey through one of the most beautiful valleys of the world by boat and train.  The local food and wine is superb while enjoying a stunning view.  Our guide Pedro was extremely professional and gave us a lot more than expected.  He loves his job and was the key for a perfect vacation day at the Douro Valley in Portugal. We will return!
