4. From Porto: Monção Wineries Tour with Wine Tastings
Driving along the North End of Portugal from Porto, pass through Monção and follow to Palácio da Brejoeira. Inserted in a scenery view full of green and vineyards, rises the Palácio da Brejoeira. This extraordinary palace was built in the early years of the 19th century by Luís Pereira Velho de Moscoso, member of the Royal House and Knight of the Order of Christ. The estate has 30 ha in total, being 18 ha occupied by vineyards. The first production of Palácio da Brejoeira Alvarinho was in 1976, following the full conversion of the vineyards in 1960's. Although Palácio da Brejoeira is no longer a family business, the respect for tradition have been rigorously maintained, preserving the original production methods. The glorious journey continues and follows to Quinta de Soalheiro. A family-owned company, developed from 1974 the production of Alvarinho grapes in one sole parcel, establishing the bases of the actual company. This parcel was called 'Soalheiro', meaning sunny, referring to its location. In 1982, started to produce the first brand of Alvarinho in Melgaço, a monovarietal Vinho Verde wine with Alvarinho grapes. Ever since, the company made a long and stronghold path by promoting environmental sustainability and supporting biodiversity in their viticultural ecosystems. Bringing together the innovation and tradition, Quinta de Soalheiro winemakers developed a sparkling wine made of Alvarinho grapes, one of the first produced in the region. Taste the full range of the Soalheiro wines, including a 9% sweet dessert wine and the Alvarinho Brandy.

Leaving Quinta do Soalheiro behind, it follows Ponte de Lima, for lunch. Considered the most beautiful village in Portugal, this jewel of the northern part of Portugal, is known by the preservation of its architecture, namely the roman bridge that it's the origin of the village name. The local food is exquisite, and you will be introduced many different flavors having a traditional lunch at a local restaurant.
