Madeira Island: Whole Island Mega Tour

1. Madeira Island: Whole Island Mega Tour

Explore both sides of the island on one day. This tour will allow you to visit both areas of the west and east of the island in a non rushed tour that takes about 9 to 10 hours in order for us to have enough time to properly visit these wonderful areas Madeira has to offer. We start off with the East Side of the island by going to the original Christ Statue, which has a great view to Funchal. Afterwards we head to the tip of the island Ponta de São Lourenço and we do a stop there for about 25 minutes, where you can enjoy some great views to both the south and northeast coast of the island. After we go and visit another viewpoint in Faial, Santana with a skywalk, the viewpoint of Guindaste. We also visit the traditional straw rooftop houses in Santana, and then we make our way to the northwest coast using the scenic roads from the northeast and we stop along the way on a very interesting beach in Calhau de São Jorge where there are some interesting ruins and afterwards we have a little stop in São Vicente and then we make way for our lunch/swimming stop in Porto Moniz. After we enjoyed the natural pools we go to the Western tip of the island, the lighthouse of Ponta do Pargo. Afterwards we visit Paul do Mar, while taking some scenic roads as well and then we head off to a great waterfall in Ponta do Sol , called Cascata dos Anjos and we stop at the skywalk in Cabo Girão at 580 metres of altitude for some great views. If you wish to ask for a specific spot to visit you can request us beforehand and we can see if its possible to incorporate it in our tour

What people are saying about Ponta Do Sol

My fiancé and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour on Tuesday 7th June which enabled us to soak in many of the natural wonders of Madeira in the space of a day. We originally were due to do the Rabacal 25 Fountains Levada Walk but due to safety problems on the hike, this was then changed to the Porto Moniz Pools and Skywalk Tour. However, having hiked Pico Ruivo and the Verada da Encumeada the previous day, a swim in the Porto Moniz pools was the perfect remedy for the sore limbs and sun-kissed skin picked up from our hike. Our designated guide and driver, Diogo, was incredibly knowledgeable in his description of the history, geography and culture of Madeira. It was clear in his stories how proud and passionate he is of his home and we were lucky beneficiaries of his knowledge as well as his personal recommendations for the best places to eat/drink/visit on the island.

The guide/driver was genuinely very funny. Honestly I just found it incredibly impressive the sheer effort he put in. He talked to every couple as we joined the jeep to build rapport and was constantly cracking jokes, some good banter and some flat, but I really enjoyed it! He kept us upbeat but the main thing that came across was his extreme depth of knowledge of fauna, Madeira and customer service. It was incredibly informative and probably the most professional tour I’ve ever had. The walk + lunch + off-road + skywalk offered great balance & the shortcut on 25 fontes was a life saver, on the way back that became clear. This was likely the best value for money experience in Madeira we had!

Great activity and an interesting walk. The 4x4 helps as you can get to places that no other vehicle can get to. The waterfall was awesome as well.

Great guide great day. We were taken to a lovely restaurant for lunch. It's extra cost but really nice. Thank you

Absolutely exceptional guide: funny, personal, insightful. Excellent tour, great day. Go for it!
