Depart Funchal and journey west to the Paul da Serra viewpoint in Calheta. Upon arrival, embark on a hike of the famous Levada das 25 Fontes e Risco walk and encounter the amazing waterfalls that give the nature trail its name. Then, go to Pico da Urze for lunch in a typical restaurant at your own expense. Continue off-road to the village of Ponta do Sol to see the stunning south coast of Madeira. Explore both sides of the island on one day. This tour will allow you to visit both areas of the west and east of the island in a non rushed tour that takes about 9 to 10 hours in order for us to have enough time to properly visit these wonderful areas Madeira has to offer. We start off with the East Side of the island by going to the original Christ Statue, which has a great view to Funchal. Afterwards we head to the tip of the island Ponta de São Lourenço and we do a stop there for about 25 minutes, where you can enjoy some great views to both the south and northeast coast of the island. After we go and visit another viewpoint in Faial, Santana with a skywalk, the viewpoint of Guindaste. We also visit the traditional straw rooftop houses in Santana, and then we make our way to the northwest coast using the scenic roads from the northeast and we stop along the way on a very interesting beach in Calhau de São Jorge where there are some interesting ruins and afterwards we have a little stop in São Vicente and then we make way for our lunch/swimming stop in Porto Moniz. After we enjoyed the natural pools we go to the Western tip of the island, the lighthouse of Ponta do Pargo. Afterwards we visit Paul do Mar, while taking some scenic roads as well and then we head off to a great waterfall in Ponta do Sol , called Cascata dos Anjos and we stop at the skywalk in Cabo Girão at 580 metres of altitude for some great views. The 25 Fontes Levada is one of the most popular in Madeira Island. It's name lives up to the number of fountains or little waterfalls that’s possible to count once you arrive there. Starting in Rabaçal and going to the 25 Fontes, the path reveals many landscapes and wonderful sensations. Along the way it’s possible to admire a wide variety of endemic species of the flora and fauna of the region. The host will pick you up and drop you off at your accommodation, giving you essential hike information, along some other tips of the Island. This spectacular walk begins at the Vila de Ribeira Grande riverbed, passing through scattered houses, banana plantations, and a large windmill that helps residents collect water. After 1 hour of walking, arrive at Coculi Village with its prominent Santo Crucifixo parish church, and then reach the second “Ribeira Grande” (at the mouth of two Ribeiras). Learn about the local fauna and flora from your local guide and walk between the sugarcane plantations to a slender aqueduct built by the Portuguese in 1956, which still carries water today. Discover the small village of “Boca das Ambas Ribeiras” (Mouth of Both Valleys) where you will enjoy lunch with a vertiginous view of the valley floor. After that, enjoy a zigzagging cobbled path that leads to the tiny settlement of Selado do Mocho and the Ribeira Garça.
